As everyone knows, The Amateur Playoffs have reached the Final Four. The 4 teams that will be battling it out to win that elusive championship are as followed:
#1: Apocalypse Ponies
vs.
#4: Pro Laggers
#2: Behind Enemy Lines
vs.
#3: Soviet Machine
I’m here to bring a closer look at each of these teams and let give you my two sense on what will happen. Let’s get started.
#1: Apocalypse Ponies
After being dormant for 2 seasons, the Ponies came back to finish what they had started back in SL09. After a 10-0 season and claiming the first seed in the playoffs, many people thought that they were going to be the team who would go all the way. But now AP will be facing Top Teir Teams for probably the first time in the season.
The only real competition they had in their division was Outcast Revolution, but even OcR didn’t stand much of a chance falling 7-2 in both of their regular season match. Up untill their Elite Eight game against Hard Liquor Chasers, there wasn’t anybody who could score more than 2 goals on this team in a game (HLC scored 3). So the #4 seeded Pro Laggers will have a challenge to shut done AP top players in Hobo Saaz, Meanbearpig X2 and blue collar kid.
#4: Pro Laggers
With both PL Captain, I robot9000 and sabceef players who helped ~Ahoooo!~ make it to the Final Four last season, their back to finish what they started with their old team. After leaving Ahooo, they created PL and started to recruit Grifballerz with whom most of us are familiar with.
So far this sesason, Their hasn’t been any team that has been able to get behind their solid defensive tanking. PL also finished the regular season with a perfect 10-0 record. PL’s toughest challenge of the season will be to somehow get by AP’s terrific defense. They might have to resort to using more launches and pass plays to beat these guys or they could try taking it to the ground by trying to out-tank AP’s very powerful Tanks. In my opinion, the AP vs. PL game will be the most exciting game of the season yet.
My Predicition for this game is very difficult, but I think I’ve made my mind up. I believe that this game will finish in a 5-4 score, with the win going to AP. There will be lots of kills in this game and it will be very competitive.
#2: Behind Enemy Lines
This is another example of a team who turned their luck around from last season. With much practice they were able to turn things around. Many people had this team picked as a favorite to make it this far. With a roster full of veterans, there’s no surprise that this teams deserves to be one of the Final Four.
BEL’s luck is not luck at all. They can thank the Tanking of Priest XYZ and bred4war23 for their success. They have had no difficulty finding the plant. Unfortunately, I can’t see anyway of how this team will be able to beat Soviet Machine. Unless they are able to stop TimeGnome, which most of the top players in Grifball Community have a hard time doing, they won’t be able to beat them
#3: Soviet Machine
After a questionable last season, Soviet has really come out of the gates this time around. They are the last of the Final Four teams and also the 4 of them who still has a perfect record. With the pick up of extraordinary Trick Runner TimeGnome in the off-season, they became a team that many people struggled to compete against. Their biggest challenge so far this season was when they played -1 Indian in the regular season. But they were successful there.
With TimeGnome being maybe one of the most slippery runners to have played in this league with very few who have been able to stop him and his alone 6.18 GPG average. Everyone is wondering how BEL is planning on stopping this (As TimeGnome calls himself) “Terrorist in Training. It is obvious what TimeGnome’s approach is when it comes to running (although I will not reveal it here in case some of you haven’t figured it out).
The game between SV and BEL will be a vicious one, but only one can move on to the finals. My prediction is that Behind Enemy Lines will not be able to figure out how to beat TimeGnome quick enough and Soviet Machine will take the win 6-3 and move on to the finals.
