Leo’s Platform:

I’ve thrown my hat in for the position of the Head of the Stats Committee. Why? Because I think I have what it takes to be able to run the Committee and ensure that all of the statistics get taken care of. Through the running of my own league (GBOSML10) I’ve learned the formulas, I’ve entered the data for teams and individuals. I have team statistics, player statistics, team vs team statistics, and player vs player statistics.

Just to reference I’ve had to enter data for eight teams and forty-six players on my own, and there are still more players that have played for the first time in recent games in the GBOSML10 that I’m entering.

I’ve got the leadership experience needed to help delegate work, but that doesn’t mean that I won’t do my fair share! I’d delegate the work to each member of the committee by divisions. Each committee member would have a few divisions that would be their responsibility

I’m looking at developing a web/page scraping utility to help “modernize” and speed up the stats collection procedure; who knows maybe we won’t need a bunch of people in the future to be on stats committee!

I’m very proficient in Excel and maintaining a Google Docs Spreadsheet! Here is an example of what I’m doing with GBOSML10. I’ve been around in some form or fashion since the creation of Grifball and tend to know what I’m doing.

I’m totally up for other stats related projects such as maybe the top ten teams and players of the week. And I’d like to recognize those players and teams each week for their accomplishments. I’d also work towards creating and experimenting with new formulas so that a MVP and MVT could be created. I’m always open to suggestions! I’d like to bring back “Power Rankings” that Burnie did in the GBWL08 and add the win percentage to team stats.

I will ensure that at the very least for teams that Wins, Losses, Forfeit Wins, Forfeit Losses, Goals For, Goals Against, Scoring Opportunities, Scoring Average, Defensive Average, Kills, Deaths, K/D Spread, True Kills, True Deaths, True K/D, Betrayals, Stops, Plants, Bomb Grabs, Hammer Kills, Sword Kills, Batting Average, Combined Average, and Winning Percentage will be tracked.

*For individuals Kills, Deaths, K/D Spread, Betrayals, Scores, Stops, Plants, Bomb Grabs, Hammer Kills, Sword Kills, Bomb Kills, Guardian Kills, Batting Average, Scoring Average, Combined Average, True Kills, True Deaths, True K/D, and Minutes played will be tracked.

Stats would be made available in a timely manner to the public on a weekly basis, hopefully at a regularly schedule time.

Even though I’ve never worked in a stats position I’ve kept track of my individual stats since GBWL08 and kept my Grifballpedia page updated with my stats; I’ve had experience with stats since then.

If not elected I will contact the person that is elected about working on their committee. If you have any questions related to my platform feel free to ask and I shall do my best to answer.

* Pro stats would take a precedent to Amateur and some stats may be cut from Amateurs if necessary.

Mikinater’s Platform

It has been a while since I had the opportunity to once again apply for this position, but this time I will prove why I’m just the right person for this spot. When I almost had the amateur admin in my hands a couple of seasons ago, I made a huge mistake, and destroyed my chances of helping the league for the greater good. I hurt the league, damaged it, and ruined what I wanted to do most by killing my reputation and giving myself the name of a cheater. I’ve done well in the past 2 seasons, regaining my reputation piece by piece, and have returned to a respected member of the community once again. I’ve realized what I did wrong, and I want to help more now to prevent players from making the same choice I did, as well as helping the league expand to Reach by bringing new and fresh ideas to the table.

Although I do not have any prior administrative experience when it comes to running an online Grifball league, I’ve got other “talents” that most of the others can’t compete with. I’ve been head of events three times, with this past season my most successful, running numerous Grif Rushes and the All Star games for their respective leagues. I’m very familiar when it comes to HTML coding, so any type of work on Grifball.com should be a breeze, and I can finally access the site to make all the changes that everyone has wanted for all these seasons (unless the format has been changed, which I still know plenty of CSS and java and can learn). I’ve run the GriFBI for a few seasons (and although it’s slowed down recently, I still put time and effort to keeping the site running), and all this shows that I can manage things well and easily. The most important thing that I have in my possession, that past admins and commissioners always seem to struggle acquiring, is time. I am basically always available. I’ve got basically access to my computer and xbox all day and by owning the jesusphone, the iPhone 4, is basically 24/7 ticket to the RT forums, no matter where I am. Anyone can always reach me by text, so availability will never be a problem when it comes to upcoming incidents, which is exactly what we need compared to previous seasons. I’ve got the time, experience, and determination to make sure this league runs smoothly, and everyone finishes the season as a happy camper.

It doesn’t really matter to me where to apply as either Amateur admin or Pro admin I applied for both , because I know I’d do as good of a job in either spot. The pros know me, and they all have a positive opinion of me as an unbiased, friendly person. I’ve been playing side by side with a lot of them since the league started, and they know they can trust me with running the league. With the amateurs, I’ve always been a welcoming figure, helping them with grifball.com issues, league questions, even queries about highlights. I would fit in well there as well, and even expand it by keeping them more informed, with weekly emails and XBL messages, compared to what the HUB does for the GGL (which I’ve always been a huge fan of) and working with Goose to put up weekly updates on Grifball.com to keep the entire league always knowledgeable on what is happening, so that eventually they will become what we have now with the current pro league players: long time members of the community.

I know I’ll perform well if you put me in the position, and I will definitely exceed all of your expectations by doing exactly what this league needs to get done.

AJ Cena’s Platform

Well it started when Jack, the third Commissioner of the AGLA, held the first Bum-rush(or Grif Blitz now). It had everyone talking about it. The sign ups for a 32 team bracket were filled in a matter of minutes. But now we struggle to gather 8 teams in 30 minutes.If i were elected as the Head of Events. I would gather a committee to help spread the word of Grif Blitz’s. I would try to advertise on bungie, contact someone on getting it on waypoint, and various other gaming sites to make sure we get the fun competition we all love.

Now on to the other fun events, The Grif-Draft, started by are own Mikinater, the grif-draft is where you get a certain number of captains depending on the number of players, who would then gather in a IRC channel where a draft would occur. you would draft 5-6 players on your team and play with them in a grif blitz. I believe this is a fun idea because it lets players meet other players.
I would also run other events in other commonly played games that people play such as, MW2, Blacklight TD, ODST Firefight, and REACH.
Another thing i would like to run is a Adopt a noob bum-rush. This would be where 1-2 league players go into matchmaking and find 2-3 new players and play in a grif blitz with them. I would hope this would increase the league population.

The All Star game
If im elected. this Season’s All-star game, I would work with the Head of Stats(vote for Neo) to get the best players stat wise on a ballot, and have the community vote for their All Stars. I would get the games Streamed By someone who has the capability of doing that. So the Community can watch the best players play. The ALL ROOKIE all star game will be of new players with the most of 2 seasons experience (Last season, and this season) and give them their time to shine.

I applied for Amateur Admin alone because I believe Amateurs are the only chance to have a future for Grifball. As some of you may know, I recently polled every Amateur Captain in the league on what could make the league better. A large portion of feedback was communication issues. If we do not invest in our amateurs, we will slowly decline and lose any hope of a brighter future for Grifball. I pledge to have a weekly RT message/XBL message with each captain in the Amateurs. A touch-base getting feedback from them and making sure everything is going smoothly.

I will pay extra attention to teams that do not play their scheduled games each week to help against teams turning forfeit factories. I will mediate with teams that are having scheduling issues and try my hardest to get all teams to play all games. Once again I believe being fully communicative with all teams will help alleviate “Drop-Outs” and “Forfeit factories”. We need to do all we can to ensure a strong return for Grifball. Summer League has proven in the past to be the biggest influx in league members. I think this is the most critical season so I feel that the having open communication is the key to this important time.

I have done nothing but committed my time in a positive manner for the league. I have proven that I genuinely care for league growth by advertising the league in XXP shamelessly as I am sure most of you are aware. I have worked for the HUB which focuses on helping amateurs improve and answers questions. Goosechecka has given me her full support in assisting me as Amateur Admin. I know I will have the full support of the HUB via HUBcasts and articles.

I will be on the forums and XBL every day after 4 PM CST and will be available 24/7 via AIM @ Green Team Tex. I will be dedicated to the Amateurs fully. As I have been playing Grifball for two years now, I have obviously made friends. I would feel comfortable deferring any decision of my friend’s team to the Commissioner.

As far as judgment, I would be very strict on cheating. I despise cheating and believe in hurts the game greatly. I would look at each case deeply and of course approve my decisions with the Commissioner. Once again, I will be very strict on cheating.
Lastly, I would be willing to “sit-out” this season as Amateur Admin is that is what the community would want. I know my team will hate this, but I am willing to make the sacrifice to prove my dedication to ensuring this as the best season for the amateurs. If elected, I would put it up to a vote for the community.

So right when I saw AJ’s post, I thought to myself “I need a pretty picture to grab the attention of all of the lazy people in this league”. But then I also thought “Mine needs moar colors”. So with a little help from my Co-HoE Timmy, we came up with this.

Ok. So it looks like I already got out br’d by both of my opponents. That is not good. I wanted to be first. So I will start by asking both of my opponents to delete their current pitches so that I can be first, and then re-post them below mine. Thank you.

Now onto the spr srs stuff. Some of this may sound a bit repetitive because of the posts above me, but I actually did get these ideas myself. Obviously, I don’t have the most experience in this league, so a lot of you might think that I do not have the proper qualifications for this job. This may be so, but that is why I want a lot of community input in making events. One thing I will do right away is make a thread where the community can give me their input on what events they think would be most fun. I do still have my own ideas, but I would like to hear what you guys think as well.

Now for my ideas. This is going to be one of those repetitive moments, but just live with it. My first idea for this season is the Grif-Draft. I had a little bit of knowledge about this before the end of last season and I had honestly had plans of doing this even before AJ’s super cool post. Same idea as AJ’s post though. Get x amount of captains, get a butt load of “Free Agents”, get the captains to draft the FA’s to make their teams, and then play lots of games. This sounds like one of the most fun events I have heard of and I would love to revive it.

My next idea is to incorporate some of the less common Grifball variants into some Grif Rushes. No, I will not make anyone play Chicken Itza in any of these, but I would like to incorporate Ariel and Blockdrop as the main two. These will happen less frequently then the normal AGLA standard Rushes, but they still will make appearances. There will also be weapon specific Rushes. Not just to see who can get the most kills though. These Rushes will be actual games, but with the ability to use only one weapon and the bomb. And finally there will be some Double-Elimination Rushes. Single Elimination Rushes get way too boring and go to quick. There will be a decent mix of Double and Single- Elimination Rushes throughout the season.

As the next point to my pitch, I will vow to hold a Grif Blitz EVERY DAY!!!!!………ok, not EVERY day. But to be serious, Grif Rushes will be frequent enough so that everyone in the league does not get bored. I will make sure that everyone knows about the Grif Rush days in advance and I will do my best to advertise in as many places as possible.

Now my final point that I want to make is the devotion I will put into this. If I make a Grif Rush, I will be sure to be there(only with exceptions of emergencies). I will never miss a Rush for something simple. If I miss a Rush, it either means that I am having technical difficulties that prevent me from running it, or something urgent comes up last second also preventing me from holding said Rush. If there ever is a time that I cannot make a Rush, I have a Co-HoE that will take over. My Co-HoE will be tinytim3501, and he will take over my position if I can ever not make it. And if I find out that neither of us can make it(doubt this will happen), I will be sure to find someone trustworthy ahead of time to make the Rush happen.

Now for my repeat paragraph. I do plan on having non-halo rushes as well as holding an All Star game at the end of the season. The off Halo Rushes will consist of many of today’s popular games and the All Star Game will work very much like this past season’s.

Depending on where a team is placed, that team will receive a certain number of points. Whichever team has the highest number of points per vote will be the number one team. All players are encouraged to participate as well.

Recap:
1. You cannot vote for your own team.
2. You MUST include your XBL Gamertage and Team Name when voting
3. Pro votes must include all the teams, while Amateur only contains the top 10.
4. Do NOT put a team at the top that doesn’t deserve it. If it appears as if you are trying to screw up the voting, your votes will be removed.

- We’ve agreed to have any of you hoping to become the next Pro/Amateur admin send me an application. That involves you saying you’re interested in the position (via RT message) and telling me why you think you’re right for the job. Melvin was near the bottom of my potential admins list until I read his application, which was very impressive, so make it count.

- I’ll choose two “accredited” candidates for each of the two admin positions (one pro, one amateur), and then you (the community) will vote on them via secret ballot to me directly (ala our regular elections).

- Speaking of regular elections, we’re getting into those right away. I’ll be asking you to send me a message noting your intention to run for any of the following positions:

Due largely to issues with Grifball.com preventing users and teams from registering, the Summer 2010 season of Grifball has been delayed. Until this issue is fixed, we will not run signups or league play.
